A Study on the Types of Oriental and Western Digestive
Agents and Their Effects on Indigestion Symptoms

ABSTRACT
Introduction Indigestion refers to all discomfort and symptoms of various causes in the digestive
system, including gastric and hepatobiliary diseases. It's not just one symptom. It includes all
digestive symptoms such as heartburn, belching, nausea, upper abdominal discomfort, and bloating
in the stomach, as well as abdominal pain. Symptoms of indigestion differ from patient to patient.
Therefore, it will be necessary to familiarize yourself with the precise knowledge of the use of
Western and herbal digestive agents in order to ensure proper drug treatment by using Western
and herbal medicines.
Purpose This study focuses on the contents of what digestive agents should be administered to
patients with specific symptoms through the components of the drug, and at the same time, the
most recommended grade/baseline for functional indigestion by referring to the standard clinical
guidelines for functional indigestion oriental medicine. The purpose of this study is to find and
judge thesis that reviewed the literature on the efficacy of Pyeongwisan, which has a high level of
quality.
Method It consisted of Western digestive agents sold as over-the-counter drugs at pharmacies that
were actually practiced.
Result As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that Hyangsapyeongwisan inhibited lipid
peroxidation, scavenging DPPH free radical, scavenging superoxide radical, scavenging Nitric oxide,
scavenging peroxynitrite, and inhibiting LDL oxidation.
Conclusion it was confirmed that Hyangsapyeongwisan had a significant effect on the protective
effect against oxidative damage in HUVEC cells. Ingredients in herbal digestive agents are relatively
light on the body and are actually effective, so enough can be used for indigestion symptoms.
